Statement by the Office of the Social Protection Board<\/p>

The Social Protection Board in response to the letter featured in Antigua Newsroom: \u201cTargeted and Disrespected by Government Employee,\u201d dated 21 April 2023 would like to assure our beneficiaries and the general public that we take our duty of care very seriously and confirm our resolve to treating every individual who seeks assistance with respect, consideration and excellent customer service in a professional manner.<\/p>\n

We would likewise request that our clients be respectful of our staff and set policies which are in place to protect all of our staff and customers alike, and refrain from indecent language and harassment targeted towards our staff members in the delivery of our mandate.<\/strong><\/p>

We at the Social Protection Board are mindful that COVID-19, the seasonal flu, and other strains of influenzas continue to affect persons within Antigua and Barbuda and pose increased and significant risk to the most vulnerable in our society, who remain at the very centre of our mandate and are serviced daily from our establishment.<\/p>

To this end we strongly encourage patrons to adhere to our mask policy and all persons entering the Office of the Social Protection Board without wearing a mask, are typically sold or offered a complimentary mask.<\/p>\n

We are therefore seeking the understanding and compliance of our patrons and the general public as we continue to deliver on our mandate, and service the disadvantaged and vulnerable in a safe environment for all.<\/p>
