A California woman sold her daughter\u2019s pet goat to her local county and district\u2019s state fair \u2014 but now she\u2019s suing them after they allegedly slaughtered and barbecued it.<\/p>\n

Jessica Long purchased Cedar, the beloved pet goat, in April 2022 for her 9-year-old daughter, who cared for the farm animal every day, reported\u00a0the Sacramento Bee.<\/a><\/p>

After deciding to enter Cedar into the Shasta District Fair\u2019s livestock auction, the daughter desperately wanted him back, leading Long to steal the goat.<\/p>

In the process, it prompted a frenzy involving local officials and sent sheriffs on a 200-mile wild goose chase \u2014 make that\u00a0goat<\/em>\u00a0chase \u2014 to find and retrieve the\u00a0precious pet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Long\u2019s attorney called the events an \u201cabuse of power\u201d and a \u201csham.\u201d<\/p>
