Over 45 staff of the University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA) in\u00a0Piccadilly have not been paid for months.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The employees who spoke to us on the strict condition of anonymity asked that they not be named because they are not authorised to speak to the media on the issue.<\/p>\n

The University held meetings with the staff to tell them of the financial situation of the company, the last update being two weeks ago when the company promised to bring in some new investors.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Some have not been paid since March some low-level staff was paid in April but the bulk of the workers including faculty staff are finding it hard to get by.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“People are just pulling their hairs out so I don’t\u00a0know.”<\/p>\n

One staff told Antigua Newsroom that bills, including car and mortgage payments, have become due.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

They have received no word on when and if they will be paid.<\/p>\n

According to the staff, APUA disconnected electricity at the main campus and at the free clinic in English Harbour and school is now running on generators.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The workers accuse the HR department of being uncaring.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“I am telling you it is frustrating. We just need somebody to help,” one worker said.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that students are also owned money although the details on this are not clear.<\/p>\n

ANR reached out to several departments of the school for a response. An automatic email message\u00a0indicated that it was received. However, there was no response to our questions at the time of this publication.<\/p>\n

The school has operated in Antigua and Barbuda since 1983.<\/p>\n
