DEAR EDITOR:<\/p>

I have just read the\u00a0letter to Max Fernandez regarding being scored 8 out of 10 for tourism<\/strong> and I cannot doubt the improvement the cruise ships are having on the tourist industry in Antigua.<\/p>\n

However tourism isn\u2019t just cruise ships docking in St John\u2019s it\u2019s about families and couples, young people renting villas and apartments, staying in hotels and enjoying the beaches and surrounding areas which Antigua boasts about<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

So why are bars like this Gentleman\u2019s Club allowed to open and cause no end of anti-social behaviour in a residential area which boosts tourism by renting out accommodation to overseas visitors ?<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

These visitors are complaining about the noise the club is creating until 4am in the morning, the cars racing around and playing extremely loud booming music when leaving the club, local men fighting and arguing at 4am after leaving the club, someone has mentioned they heard gunshots, these visitors are asking to leave the villas they are renting and have stated they will not return !<\/p>\n

How can this be having a good impact on Antiguan tourism ?<\/p>

This so called Gentleman\u2019s Club which is no more than a strip joint for local men needs closing down \u2013 a local taxi driver advised someone it\u2019s EC 20 entry and you can touch!!<\/p>\n

Is this really what we want to be promoting to families who want to rent holiday homes on our beautiful island \u2013 why are licences being granted to these clubs or indeed has the club got a licence?<\/p>

This club is degrading the area of Jolly Harbour and ruining local businesses which employ local trades, gardeners, pool maintenance men, plumbers, handymen all of which is having an impact on the local economy<\/p>

Close this bar down; it does not belong in a residential holiday area!<\/p>\n
