The National Parks Authority wishes to advise members of the public that regulations are in place that instruct the holding of events and major activities within the boundaries of the National Park.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The regulations were introduced to ensure that the community spaces in the Park are respected and protected for not only their historic and cultural integrity but recognising that they provide a peaceful and tranquil home to a wide and diverse residential population.<\/p>\n

The NPA is therefore requesting that anyone wishing to use the National Park for a commercial purpose to first consult the regulations to get an understanding of the conditions associated with hosting an activity or event and\/or get in touch with the ofces of the Parks Commissioner.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Under the National Parks General Regulations of 2012, a permit is required by anyone seeking to hold certain activities in the Park.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Under section 5 of the regulations \u201cA person shall not in any way without the written permission of the Parks Commissioner\u2026use the Park premises for any event (whether commercial, service\/meeting, social gathering);\u201d<\/p>\n

The regulations further empowers the Parks Commissioner to \u201cremove or cause to be removed\u201d any such person\/s who are found to be in violation of the provisions of the regulations.<\/p>

Ofending parties are also subject to fnes of up to $5000.00 or to a term of imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or both.<\/p>\n

The conduct and operations of businesses in the Park are also protected under the National Parks (Trading) Regulations of 2014.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The legislation makes it clear that a \u201cperson shall not carry on any business within the Parkwithout a licence obtained for that purpose from the Authority.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The regulations spell out the requirements and conditions under which interested individuals or companies may qualify for a license.<\/p>\n

For arrangements and further information anyone may contact the National Parks office in the Antigua Naval Dockyard.<\/p>\n

The NPA is therefore hoping that persons can continue to respect and adhere to the aforementioned regulations and by so doing ensure that both the needs and entitlements of the community are respected and that access is provided within reason to those wishing to make use of the recreational space and facilities of the Park.<\/p>\n
