With International Day of Forests around the corner, March 21st to be exact, the Forestry Unit within the Ministry of Agriculture, took twenty-five (25) students of the Freetown Primary School on a field trip and hike.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

On Friday 10th March, Camellia Tonge, a Forestry officer conducted a tour of several areas and ecosystems starting from Freetown to Wallings Dam.<\/p>\n

The main aims and objectives of this exercise were to demonstrate the threat of invasive species and to quantify the cost of the loss of biodiversity and revenue.<\/p>

These invasive species were from both phylum and while on their excursion the students saw mongeese, Cuban tree frogs, giant African snails, lemon grass, and other vectors that caused tremendous harm and devastation to the vegetation in the areas.<\/p>

It was indeed a well-spent day: away from the monotony of the classroom, enjoying nature; while learning.<\/p>\n
