Miramar, FL (March 13, 2023) \u2013\u00a0Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA)<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the trade association that represents the mutual interests of destinations and stakeholders throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Mexico, along with Member Lines that operate over 90 percent of the global cruising capacity \u2013 is pleased to announce that it has formed another strategic development agreement.<\/div>\n

Following the recent re-signing with the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands has now formed a tailored agreement with FCCA to become a \u201cPresidential Partner.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThis new agreement shows the momentum that FCCA and destinations are having in working together to maximize cruise tourism\u2019s benefits,\u201d said Micky Arison, Chairman of FCCA and Carnival Corporation & plc. \u201cThe British Virgin Islands has been a long-standing partner of the industry, and I am thrilled that this agreement signifies the improvement of so many lives and livelihoods.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to expand our partnership with the FCCA as Strategic Development Destination Partners,\u201d said Hon. Kye Rymer, Minister of Communication and Works, Government of the Virgin Islands.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThis collaboration will amplify our cruise tourism reach, improve, and develop the services and products we offer for our cruise guests and generate more opportunities for the people of the Virgin Islands in this sector.\u201d<\/div>\n

After previously being an FCCA Presidential Partner following the historic Hurricanes Irma and Maria, along with working with FCCA following the pandemic, the British Virgin Islands has formed this agreement to further grow its economic benefits from cruise tourism, which generated $12.63 million in total cruise tourism expenditures, in addition to $4.33 million in total employee wage income, during the 2017\/2018 cruise year (which was impacted by the historic hurricane season), according to the Business Research & Economic Advisors report\u00a0Economic Contribution of Cruise Tourism to the Destination Economies<\/a>.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Through the agreement, FCCA will not only guide the British Virgin Islands government on enhancing their product and increasing cruise calls, but also will facilitate new experiences to offer cruise companies and collaborate with the local private sector to maximize any opportunities.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Additionally, the agreement will utilize FCCA\u2019s cruise executive committees, including sub-committees focused on employment and purchasing, for a series of meetings and site visits focused on the British Virgin Islands\u2019 objectives.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The British Virgin Islands will also have open access to the FCCA Executive Committee, comprised of presidents and above of FCCA Member Lines, along with their efforts to effectuate the agreement\u2019s objectives and the destination\u2019s goals.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Some of the other features of the strategic partnership include a focus on converting cruise guests to stay-over visitors, promoting summer cruising, engaging travel agents, creating consumer demand and developing a destination service needs assessment that will detail strengths, opportunities and needs.<\/div>\n
