REAL NEWS: Counterfeit currency is still being circulated in Antigua and Barbuda, with two businesses reporting to the police that persons have used, or attempted to use, fake money to obtain services.<\/p>

Reportedly, the manager of the Central Marketing Corporation (CMC) made a complaint to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that a counterfeit $100 note had been received during a sale at the corporation.<\/p>\n

Further reports say the money was received by a female cashier on Saturday, February 25, \u00a0sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

However, the counterfeit money was discovered only on the morning of Monday, February 27, while she was preparing the monies for a bank deposit.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The police, who visited the CMC to conduct investigations, examined the currency and confirmed it was not genuine.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a Bathlodge man was recently detained and taken into police custody after he attempted to use a counterfeit US$100 bill \u00a0to pay for services at Mercedes Bar.<\/p>

The police are now in possession of the fake note.<\/p>\n

This offence reportedly occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on February 26 on Desouza Road.<\/p>
