27 February 2023, Basseterre, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis \u2013 The
\nGovernor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Timothy N.J. Antoine
\ncommenced his Country Outreach Mission in Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis today
\nwith a courtesy call on the Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd
\nGCMG, JP.<\/p>

The Governor General welcomed the ECCB Governor and his delegation and noted that the
\nrole and work of the ECCB could not be underestimated. Her Excellency enquired as to
\nhow the ECCB could do more to engage with ordinary citizens, especially the youth and
\nexpressed the view that the ECCB\u2019s resilience and transformation agenda was right for the
\ncurrent times. The Governor General also enquired if there was evidence that gender equity
\ncould assist the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) countries with achieving their
\neconomic and other national goals.<\/p>\n

Governor Antoine and his delegation will also meet with the Honourable Prime Minister Dr
\nTerrance Drew and his Cabinet of Ministers on 27 February to make a presentation on the
\nECCU\u2019s Performance and Prospects.<\/p>

Tomorrow, 28 February, the ECCB team will meet with the Chamber of Industry and
\nCommerce at the St Kitts Marriott Resort . The mission continues with meetings with social
\npartners inclusive of civil society, labour unions, churches and youth on 1 March; followed
\nby a session with bankers in the Federation, on 2 March.<\/p>

As is now customary, the Country Outreach Mission will feature a live television interview.
\nJournalist and Communication Consultant, Andre Huie will engage Governor Antoine on
\n2 March from 8:00 p.m. on a range of financial, economic, banking and national
\ndevelopment issues.<\/p>\n

The event will be broadcast live on ZIZ Television and Radio and
\nstreamed on the ECCB\u2019s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The public is invited to
\nparticipate in this discussion by calling or submitting questions via the ECCB\u2019s social media
\nplatforms.<\/p>

The mission will continue on 6 March. Governor Antoine and his delegation will call on the
\nPremier of Nevis and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Saint
\nChristopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, Honourable Mark Brantley, after which they will meet
\nwith social partners on Nevis.<\/p>\n

The ECCB team, will engage members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps on 7 March.
\nThe Country Outreach Mission concludes on 8 March when the Governor and his
\ndelegation meet with the local media.<\/p>

The ECCB\u2019s delegation for the Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis Country Outreach
\nMission includes: Deputy Governor of the ECCB, Dr Valda F. Henry; Director of the
\nResearch, Statistics and Data Analytics Department – Teresa Smith; Acting Director,
\nCorporate Relations Department \u2013 Shermalon Kirby; Head of the Advisory Services in the
\nGovernor\u2019s Office – Dr Emefa Sewordor; Country Economist – Peter Abraham Jr; and Senior
\nTechnical Assistant, in the Corporate Relations Department – Marlon Bristol.<\/p>

After concluding the outreach in Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, the Governor will
\narrange missions to The Commonwealth of Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

As part of his 2022 round of Country Outreach Missions, the ECCB Governor visited
\nAnguilla in May, Montserrat in June, Saint Lucia in July, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
\nin September and Grenada in October.<\/p>\n
