The Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries will host the National Literacy Festival on 2nd March, 2023.<\/p>\n

The festival will be school-based, which will allow for schools across Antigua and Barbuda to place emphasis on the theme \u201cLiteracy: Enriching lives and preserving our culture\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Education Officer, Language Arts, Desryn Collins, said the purpose of the National Literacy Festival, which is part of the Ministry\u2019s Education Month activities, is to underscore the idea
\nthat the literacy development of students is critical to their overall wellbeing.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cIt is no secret that many of our students are struggling with literacy but a much greater
\nnumber have excellent literacy skills. So, this festival is also an opportunity to celebrate the
\nliteracy development of students at both the primary and secondary levels of education,\u201d Mrs.Collins added.<\/p>\n

Secondary schools will conduct their main activities during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00
\nnoon, while the activities at primary schools will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.<\/p>

The education officer is inviting the general public to support the schools in the communities on this day and all citizens are invited to take time out and read for at least half of an hour on\u00a0 2nd March, 2023.<\/p>\n
