Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne on Wednesday, preceding the opening ceremony of the 44th<\/sup>\u00a0CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in The Bahamas, held discussions with a delegation from the People\u2019s Republic of China on a range of issues of mutual interest.<\/p>

During the discussions, the PM underscored the tremendous assistance Antigua and Barbuda has received\u00a0from the People\u2019s Republic of China since the establishment of diplomatic relations forty years ago.<\/p>\n

Director General Cai\u00a0Wei, led the delegation\u00a0from the\u00a0People\u2019s Republic of China\u00a0Department of Latin America and\u00a0Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry in the\u00a0talks with Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s leader Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Minister for Housing, Works and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Maria Browne.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Director General Wei welcomed Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s unwavering\u00a0support and the prime minister\u2019s\u00a0offer for Antigua\u00a0and Barbuda to become a constructive interlocutor in helping to resolve challenging issues whether regionally\u00a0or globally.<\/p>

Browne indicated that the country is ready to move its partnership with the\u00a0People\u2019s Republic of China\u00a0to the next level in order to advance Antigua\u00a0and Barbuda\u2019s development\u00a0agenda.<\/p>\n

He also informed the Chinese delegation that he intends to accept an earlier invitation to visit the People’s Republic of China later this year.<\/p>
