A Brazilian woman has expressed shock after she gave birth to a 16-pound, two-foot-tall baby boy recently.<\/p>

Cleidiane Santos dos Santos said she \u201cdidn\u2019t expect this surprise\u201d when she gave birth to her sixth child, baby Angerson, via cesarean section on January 18 at Hospital Padre Colombo in Parintins, Brazil.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he would be four kilos, but he came to seven kilos,\u201d the 27-year-old mother said.<\/p>

The newborn, referred to as \u201cbeb\u00ea gigante\u201d in social media posts by the hospital, is thought to be the largest baby to be born in the state.<\/p>

According to the Guinness World Records, the heaviest baby to survive infancy was born in Italy in September 1955 and weighed 22 pounds, eight ounces.<\/p>\n

Reports are that Baby Angerson, though considered to be healthy, is currently being monitored in the hospital\u2019s NICU, and has already started breastfeeding.<\/p>

Santos dos Santos has also praised the hospital staff for their care.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank the team at the Padre Colombo Hospital, who are giving me strength and treating me very well, since when I got here, if it weren\u2019t for them, I don\u2019t know what would become of me. I appreciate each one,\u201d she said.<\/p>
