LITTLE BAY, Montserrat (December 28, 2022) \u2013 Ten calypsonians are ready to compete in the finals on Thursday, December 29 at Festival Village in Little Bay, Montserrat.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The competition has been renamed to honour Justin \u201cHero\u201d Cassell; Montserrat\u2019s first calypso monarch crowned in 1962. Hero still holds the title for the calypsonian with the most crowns, amassing ten local titles during his competitive career.<\/p>\n

He also won the OECS calypso crown in 1986 in Dominica.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Government of Montserrat awarded him the Order of Excellence for his extraordinary and unwavering commitment, devoted and distinguished contributions.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The defending monarch is Keithroy \u201cDe Voice\/De Bear\u201d Morson. He has won the local crown five times.<\/p>\n

Contending for the crown are former monarchs Herman \u201cCupid\u201d Francis, Kelvin \u201cTabu\u201d Duberry, Silvina \u201cKhandie\u201d Malone, Garnett \u201cSylk\u201d Thompson, Steve \u201cIceman\u201d Weekes, Roland \u201cKenzie\u201d Johnson, and Baptiste \u201cBaptiste\u201d Wallace. Peter \u201cMaddie\u201d Sullivan and Kimari \u201cProklaima\u201d Kirnon round out the top ten.<\/p>

The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000, with more than $10,000 in special prizes to be won.<\/p>\n
