The California school principal who\u00a0jumped to his death at Disneyland<\/a>\u00a0after leaving a chilling suicide note decided to end his life because of a \u201ctoxic\u201d relationship with his \u201cabusive\u201d wife, his daughter said in a shocking new interview.<\/p>

Christopher Christensen, 51, who had been the principal of Huntington Beach, Calif., elementary schools for 22 years, took the fatal leap Saturday \u2014 two days before he was due in court on child endangerment and battery charges.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0new interview with the Daily Mail<\/a>, 26-year-old Brittany Christensen, one of his three children from a previous marriage, claimed his current wife, Marlena, had been the abusive partner and accused her of tearing up the family.<\/p>

\u201c[Marlena] has been very difficult in our family for about the last year, and we haven\u2019t had any contact with her,\u201d Brittany told the news outlet.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019d just now started regaining contact with [Chris] over the last two weeks, and it\u2019s been really great. He\u2019d been trying to figure out how to leave her,\u201d she said. \u201cIn my opinion, it seems like this, in his mind, was his way out of his relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christensen had pleaded not guilty to the child endeangerment charges after his Nov. 15 arrest and was released on $10,000 bail.<\/p>

n a lengthy Facebook note, he blamed the \u201cflawed\u201d legal system for upending his life and sought to play down his marital troubles with wife Marlena, saying the couple \u201clove and adore each other,\u201d adding that their relationship was \u201camazing \u2026 up until recently.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained they recently got into a \u201cheated argument\u201d in front of his stepdaughters, Katelynn and Kara, but insisted that he had not \u201chit, slap, or hurt\u201d his wife or the young women.<\/p>

\u201cUnfortunately, Marlena\u2019s anger got the best of her that night and she called the police, which landed me in jail that night. Yes, me! A man who has never hit or harmed ANYONE in his life!\u201d he wrote.<\/p>

Brittany claimed Marlena \u2014 who had been married to Chris for three and a half years \u2014 had been \u201cabusive to our entire family for five years,\u201d adding that her account to law enforcement was \u201criddled with lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The daughter also shared with the Daily Mail a series of text messages Marlena allegedly sent her after an argument in April.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a horrible disgusting excuse for a daughter and sister. Go find your Dad, play the hero. But it\u2019s me he will be missing [in] the morning,\u201d Marlena reportedly wrote, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Brittany also alleged Marlena caused $6,000 worth of damage to her car after the argument, during which her dad tried to split from his wife.<\/p>\n

The daughter said she filed a police report about the incident at her Costa Mesa home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was unresolved because she didn\u2019t admit to anything, but we had footage from her doorbell camera leaving the house in the middle of the night and then coming to my apartment (where my dad was staying for the night) and taking his car,\u201d Brittany told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo when we woke up, my dad\u2019s car was gone (parked at Marlena\u2019s house) and my car had been keyed on every panel,\u201d she said, adding the wife \u201chas shown a consistent pattern of manipulation and inappropriate behavior towards my family for some time now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brittany said that despite her late father\u2019s comments about things being \u201cgreat\u201d in the marriage, \u201ctheir relationship in actuality has been toxic and wearing on both of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The grieving daughter added: \u201cIn my opinion, it was a slow chipping away at my dad\u2019s soul for much longer than just two weeks and I wish at this stage she could have left my family alone.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s done a lot, personally to my family recently, to myself, to my husband. So there\u2019s a lot going on in this that is very complicated,\u201d Brittany told the outlet.<\/p>\n

After Christensen\u2019s death, Marlena wrote on Facebook that \u201cnone of you know the full story. I\u2019m living in a nightmare and trying to grieve.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris was the love of my life and I am crushed at what happened. I didn\u2019t make him do this and it\u2019s not my fault. I am not sick I just know in my heart what\u2019s true,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

Christensen spent Thanksgiving at his 85-year-old mother Karen\u2019s home, but did not bring his wife, according to the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe seemed kind of depressed after he served me and my other son the Thanksgiving meal. He laid upstairs for an hour or two not saying or doing anything. He seemed very depressed,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I didn\u2019t think he was thinking in terms of killing himself. I just couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Karen said, adding that she didn\u2019t think her son\u2019s relationship with Marlena was healthy.<\/p>\n

Karen\u2019s husband, Jim Christensen, who died in 2020 at the age of 85, had been the music director for Disneyland\u2019s Main Street Electrical Parade.<\/p>\n

He also served as music director and conductor of the Disney All-American College Orchestra\u00a0from 1984 to 1992 at Epcot\u2019s American Gardens Theatre,\u00a0Theme Park Insider reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Karen revealed her older son, Kent, also committed suicide in 2017 at age 57.<\/p>\n

Marlena\u2019s ex-husband told the Daily Mail on condition of anonymity that she had no history of making false claims, adding that he knew of no previous domestic violence allegations against Christensen.<\/p>\n

Marlena did not respond to the outlet\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

Efforts by The Post to reach her on Wednesday were not immediately successful.<\/p>\n

Brittany claimed her father\u2019s charges were expected to be reduced to a misdemeanor count of disturbance of the peace.<\/p>\n

His case was dismissed after his death, the Daily Mail reported, citing Orange County Superior Court documents.<\/p>\n
