The sentences for convicted robbers, Glenis Messiah and Corian Thomas were reduced by the Court of Appeal this afternoon.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The men were both sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2016 for robbing Western Union in March of 2011.<\/p>\n

Messiah\u2019s sentence was reduced by four to sixteen years while Thomas\u2019 penalty was reduced by two to 18 years.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The court heard that the men were masked when Messiah entered the establishment and demanded that no one move.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Thomas who was armed with a gun stayed at the door as the lookout.<\/p>\n

The men later made good their escape with over $6,000.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Thomas received the more severe sentence since he was armed with the weapon.<\/p>\n

While the court of appeal justices agreed the original sentences were excessive for the first-time offenders, they dismissed grounds which were raised as reasons to set aside the convictions.<\/p>
