CONCERNS FOR MISSING SPECIAL NEEDS TEEN<\/p>

Fears are growing for the safety of a special needs teen missing from his home for more than 48 hours.<\/p>\n

Distraught relatives and friends of Shamar Harrigan of Willkies say the young man, who has autism, is in need of his regular medication.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Harrigan is 19 but has the mental capacity of a seven-year-old, said family friend Annika Joseph.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are very concerned about him,\u201d she told Observer. \u201cHe\u2019s an innocent youngster who doesn\u2019t mean any harm to anybody; we don\u2019t want him mistaken for someone who might do a person any harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph said Harrigan had never gone missing before. He is said to have left his home at 3pm on Monday, dressed in a black and white shirt and light blue jeans.<\/p>

He also has a pink and blue backpack. He is described as 5ft 3 and dark in complexion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been a few sightings of him so we are out surveilling the city; his family are distraught. His last known meal was Monday,\u201d Joseph added.<\/p>

Anyone who spots Harrigan is asked to call the family on 789-5164 \/ 776-3922 \/ 726-3812.<\/p>

Joseph said a report had also been made to Willikies Police Station.<\/p>\n

Police spokesman Inspector Frankie Thomas told said that efforts were being made to find Harrigan.<\/p>\n
