Our guest this week was Shamair Gilkes, Personal Banking Officer at East Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB). She believes that customers\u2019 needs should be at the center of the banking experience.<\/p>

While bank accounts keep customers’ money safe and allow them to spend and save, checking and savings accounts are more than repositories for hard-earned money. In fact, banks like ECAB offer a number of built-in perks that can help customers manage their money better so they can keep more of it in their accounts.<\/p>\n

ECAB offers a range of tools to help customers achieve their goals. She also explained that banks use the opportunity to educate customers about various financial concepts, like how to manage debt.\u00a0\u201cDebt is a stepping stone. It\u2019s when you don\u2019t manage debt that it becomes a millstone around your neck. It starts with setting clear financial goals,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Gilkes said.<\/p>

ECAB Encourages Customers to Think Outside the Bank.<\/strong>
\nGilkes explained that during the pandemic, customers had limited access to the bank and so they had to rely on alternate delivery channels like the ATM, on-line bill payment or peer-to-peer money transfers. No need to wait on line. ECAB encourages customers to use, and become familiar\u00a0with, various banking interactive tools, practical strategies, and more \u2014 all designed to help increase financial literacy and help customers reach their financial goals.
