John\u00a0Mussington,\u00a0marine biologist and Principal of the Sir McChesney George Secondary School,\u00a0remains without electricity at home since Hurricane Irma devastated Barbuda in 2017.<\/p>

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and Mussington have been at loggerheads over the issue for more than four years now.<\/p>\n

The Principal has said he feels that he is being victimized by the Authority over the restoration of his utility service, and complained that he is being unfairly treated.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Mussington\u00a0says he submitted an application for\u00a0electricity\u00a0services on January 22, 2018. APUA, meantime, said that an inspection was carried out, that month, at Mussington\u2019s premises, and the property\u00a0did not meet connection standards.
\nAccording to the utility company, he was\u00a0instructed on what should be done in order to bring his home in line.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This included constructing a concrete column at the entrance of his premises to enable connection and successful service installation. This was done when checks were made on November 11, 2018, APUA says.<\/p>\n

However, the Authority claims that when\u00a0electricity\u00a0inspectors made two additional attempts to complete inspections at\u00a0Mussington\u2019s residence, they could not gain access.<\/p>

In his most recent interview about the saga, the Principal says he believes his outspokenness must be part of the reason he is being treated this way.<\/p>\n

However, he adds, he will not be intimidated and will continue to speak out against the ills that impact this country.<\/p>

Meanwhile, Mussington says the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) had initiated a project to assist in reconnecting Barbudan homes to the grid \u2013 meaning that persons were operating only with temporary electricity connections.<\/p>

Apparently, over 100 persons are still not properly connected, while Mussington says he does not have even that facility \u2013 and the CDB project has been halted.<\/p>\n
