The two major activities organised by the New York Offices of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to celebrate the country\u2019s Independence are fully back on track after the pandemic limited the hosting of major events for the past two years.<\/p>

This Sunday, 30th<\/sup>\u00a0October, Antiguans and Barbudans living in the tri-state area will come together once more for the annual Thanksgiving Service.<\/p>\n

It will take place this year at the Church of the Crucifixion at Convent Avenue in Harlem.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The service, which begins at 4:00 pm, will be officiated by Reverend F. Craig Henry while the sermon will be delivered by Archdeacon Franklin Reid. The Antigua and Barbuda International Chorale under the direction of Dean Belgrave Pelle will also feature prominently.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The harmonious voices of Chosen Generation will lead the congregation in a praise and worship segment while the City South Steel Orchestra will bring the melodious sounds of the pan to the celebration.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur nation has survived a period that truly tested our collective will and fortitude as a people. It certainly is a timely occasion for us to give thanks for the many blessings that continue to fall on us as a nation,\u201d stated Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Aubrey Webson.<\/p>

The annual Independence Gala also returns and will feature once again none other than the pride and joy of Antigua and Barbuda, the legendary Burning Flames.<\/p>\n

Tickets are already on sale for the Saturday November 12th<\/sup>\u00a0event, which will take place at Mulino\u2019s at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, New York and can be purchased by 212-541-4117\/646-215-6047 or by going to the EventBrite website.<\/p>

The proceeds from the event have been targeted to go towards the Mentorship Programme of the Antigua and Barbuda Associations United.<\/p>

This initiative has set out to empower students in Antigua and Barbuda at the secondary school level with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed educational and financial decisions in a competitive world.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Webson has expressed gratitude to the institutions and individuals who have already come on board as sponsors for the event.<\/p>\n

These include Economic Envoy Ms. Gisella Bru, Ambassador Hanna Akar, American University of Antigua, Arton Capital, Citizenship by Investment Unit, MBL Benefits Consulting, Monroe College and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n
