While it\u2019s long been known that St. Nick was buried in Turkey\u2019s Antalya province, the holy man\u2019s remains were pilfered around 700 years after his death, so his exact burial spot was unknown \u2014 until now,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/santa-saint-nicholas-burial-turkey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Live Science reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an extremely important discovery, the first find from that period,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dha.com.tr\/english\/new-discovery-in-santa-claus-church-his-grave-and-where-he-stood-were-found-2145054\">\u00a0<\/a>Osman Erav\u015far, chairman of the Antalya Cultural Heritage reportedly been interred at the UNESCO heritage site,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/news\/world-news\/father-christmas-grave-finally-found-28273922\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Daily Star reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the basilica was then submerged by rising Mediterranean sea levels in the Middle Ages, whereupon another church was built atop it in the town \u2014 then known as Myra \u2014 between the 5th and 12th centuries to protect the holy man\u2019s grave.
