Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said that his former Caricom counterpart, Frundel Stuart frustrated the people of Barbados leading to his crushing defeat in the May\u00a024th general election.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“I expected it. Up to a few days ago, I was telling my security detail that she would win all her seats,” Browne told a radio programme on Pointe FM over the weekend.<\/p>\n

He was making reference to the victory of Barbados’ first female prime minister, Mia Mottley, who won all her seats in the parliament despite abuse and personal attacks.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“The then government at the time, clearly they had failed and it reminded me of the UPP government in 2014,” the prime minister said of the Fruendel\u00a0Stuart administration.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Browne said just like former the former United Progressive Party government “you had an administration that could not account for its stewardship and one that would have failed the people.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

He said Stuart\u00a0also made the decision allow the parliament to dissolve before announcing a date for the election, similar to what former prime minister Spencer\u00a0did in 2014.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“Clearly, they knew they were losing and in his case, I think he frustrated the people of Barbados to the extent where it would have been a clean sweep,” the Antigua Barbuda leader said.<\/p>\n

Browne said he did not want to get into the internal politics of Barbados while congratulating\u00a0Mottley.<\/p>

“Mia Mottley is clearly a very capable lady…I am quite sure she will do a good job. I think Barbados would have made a change for the better,” he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“In fact, I cant see the BLP doing any worse than the DLP,” he added.<\/p>\n

Mottley was sworn in on Friday and her 30 member cabinet was sworn in on Saturday.<\/p>\n
