The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division advises consumers of a product recall on\u00a0Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution\u00a0due to microbial contamination.<\/p>\n

Preliminary investigations by the Division\u00a0have\u00a0revealed\u00a0that the recalled\u00a0laxative\u00a0is in Antigua and Barbuda and we are advising consumers not to\u00a0consume\u00a0this product.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

The Division has referred the matter to the Central Board of Health within the Ministry of Health for their necessary action so that the product can be removed and discarded.<\/p>

According to the manufacturer,\u00a0VI-Jon, LLC,\u00a0the recalls include all\u00a0lots of Cherry Flavour and Grape Flavour of Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution, 10 FL OZ (296 mL) within expiry. The recall was initiated after Vi-Jon, LLCs third-party microbial testing identified the presence of\u00a0Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens<\/em>.<\/p>

The Division is advising consumers\u00a0who\u00a0may have\u00a0purchased the product not\u00a0to consume\u00a0it, but rather return it to\u00a0the place of purchase for a full refund.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the manufacturer,\u00a0immunocompromised patients, who consume this product, may be at increased risk for invasive infections caused by\u00a0Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens<\/em>\u00a0that could lead to serious, life-threatening adverse health consequences. To date, Vi-Jon, LLC is aware of 3 (three) reports of serious adverse reactions potentially related to this recall.<\/p>\n
