As part of our Emancipation Celebrations 2022, visiting Ugandan Ambassador Ireneo Namboka, Global Vice President of Aido Network International from Africa, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne<\/a> in his office on Friday 29th July.<\/p>

Prime Minister Browne welcomed Ambassador Namboka to Antigua and thanked him for supporting and participating in the annual Emancipation celebrations.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Browne and Ambassador Namboka spoke extensively on the fight for reparations, reparatory justice, climate justice, and the growing relationship between CARICOM and the African Union.<\/p>

Joining the diplomatic meet and greet were the Chairman of the Antigua Barbuda Reparations Support Commission (ABRSC), Ambassador Dorbrene O’Marde, and Vice-Chairman of the ABRSC, Ambassador Anthony Liverpool.<\/p>

During the diplomatic meet, Ambassador O’Marde reminded Prime Minister Browne of his call for an official Africa-CARICOM Day.<\/p>\n

The courtesy visit concluded with a commitment by Prime Minister Browne to continue his call for reparations, reparatory justice, and climate justice in international fora.<\/p>

Ambassador Namboka also met with the Governor-General of Antigua & Barbuda, H.E. Sir Rodney Williams, KGN, GCMG, MBBS, at Government House on Friday.<\/p>\n

His Excellency Ambassador Ireneo Namboka is the Global Vice President of Aido Network International. He is responsible for the organisation\u2019s international relations and operations. He has been very instrumental in developing the organisation\u2019s strategic direction and establishing international cooperation with key partners.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

AIDO is an international NGO, established in 2018, as \u2018Ateker International Development Organisation\u2019. Aido Network International (AIDO) brings together different stakeholders within the cultural, community, educational, faith, and sporting sectors, to challenge human rights abuses and use culture to promote unity, development and social change.<\/p>\n

It is presently focused on developing the synergy between the African continent and its diaspora. AIDO coordinates the African Kingdom Diaspora Alliance \u2013 the organization of traditional African Kings and Queens.<\/p>\n

Amb. Namboka had a successful career as a diplomat and retired United Nations Advisor on Human Rights.<\/p>\n

He served in various capacities as a consultant, trainer, and mentor on key topics with an African focus, such as gender mainstreaming, the protection of civilians in conflict contexts, combating human trafficking, and the vital role of women in nation-building, peace-making and good governance.<\/p>\n

Since his retirement, he has worked with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) supporting Nations that provide soldiers (TCC) for United Nations peacekeeping operations.<\/p>\n

He has also served with the Pacific Architects and Engineers (PAE) as a Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Expert, at the Rwanda Military Academy, Gako.<\/p>\n
