A group of young participants in the Silston Library Summer Camp, which is being held to revive reading among the younger population as well as draw attention of the public for the need to restore the Silston Library, were recently welcomed to Government House by the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The group led by local author Ms. Margaret Irish, conducted the visit as part of an educational tour of historic sites in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

The visit also provided an opportunity for Ms, Irish to present copies of her latest publications, an Antiguan and Barbudan Alphabet Chart and a Colouring Book to the Governor General.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The author expressed her hope that through these materials, parents, teachers and children will be provided with culturally and socially meaningful teaching and learning experiences.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

In expressing thanks for the gifts, Sir Rodney commended Ms. Irish for the initiative which he stated would not only positively impact the learning experience of our nation\u2019s children but also provide them with a strong sense of identity.<\/p>\n

The Silston Summer Camp is part of efforts to revive the library as well as an increased interest in reading among the younger members of the population.<\/p>
