Predictions that general elections will be called by the end of this year, 2022, have been confirmed by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who says he has instructed the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission\u00a0(ABEC) to order ballot paper.<\/p>

Regional pollster Peter Wickham has said he believes that elections will be called in November or December. And when the question was put to Browne on Saturday, July 16, he had this to say about the prediction.<\/p>\n

The Labour Party is yet to stage a campaign event. However, following the Carnival festivities, Browne says, it will ramp up its electioneering, as general elections are only months away.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He claims his\u00a0party is ready for the impending polls and has already begun to print election paraphernalia.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the United Progressive Party\u00a0(UPP) has been in campaign mode since 2020, when it rolled out its candidates. It staged a number of virtual programmes to engage the public during the COVID-19 lockdown and, more recently, at least seven political rallies to energize its base.<\/p>\n

The Party says it will not be caught off guard this time around and has been calling\u00a0on Browne to name the election date.<\/p>
