From the online Dictionary, the word \u2018Sodomitical\u2019<\/strong> was availed the meaning; \u2018Sin of Sodomy or Sin of the flesh against nature.\u2019 <\/strong>Scripturally, this has been the \u2018Sin\u2019<\/strong> that saw the fiery destruction of two Cities. Those cities were \u2018Sodom and Gomorrah.\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0 The inhabitants had provoked \u2018God\u2019 <\/strong>by their \u2018Homosexual Behaviors.\u2019 <\/strong>Forced to purify those Cities, \u2018He\u2019 knew that fire was the answer. Then \u2018He\u2019 said; \u2018Let there be Fire\u2019 and indeed, there was Fire.\u2019 It brought with it the \u2018Wrath of the Living God.\u2019<\/strong> The earthly, unholy and unruly,<\/strong> felt its furnace-like effects. \u00a0Instantaneously, the spiritually reckless and \u2018Sodomitically Wild\u2019<\/strong> were plunged into \u2018Fiery Hell.\u2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n

SCRIPTURAL LAW<\/strong><\/p>

Though no demands of rights were made back then, today the world\u2019s populations continue to provoke \u2018God\u2019 into anger. They have harbored beliefs, contrary to \u2018Scriptural Law\u2019 <\/strong>and penalty prescribed for Sodomy.\u2019<\/strong> They have been demanding \u2018Human and Constitutional Rights\u2019 <\/strong>to commit the abnormal act of \u2018Buggery.\u2019<\/strong> These have not so been entrenched in any \u2018Constitution Orders,\u2019 neither of the \u2018OECS\u2019 nor \u2018Barbados.\u2019 <\/strong>Now, advocating for such rights has been a regional group called; \u2018Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality (ECADE).\u2019<\/strong><\/p>

PERSPECTIVE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The subject matter, widely known as being contentious. It has often provoked societal outrage, sparked controversy and a firestorm of debates. While this may be so, this commentary is neither about; (a) \u2018Glorification: (b) \u2026Condemnation; nor for (c) \u2026Societal purification.\u2019 <\/strong>Neither is it intended to provoke angst in, or to offend the sensitivity of anyone. Moreover, it seeks not to invite the wrath of any person, be they \u2018Homosexuals and Lesbians.\u2019<\/strong> Instead, it attempts to look at the subjects \u2018Homosexuality and Lesbianism\u2019<\/strong> from the perspective of punishment duly prescribed by; (a) \u2018Scriptural Law; (b) Levitical Law; and (c) \u2026Statute Law.\u2019<\/strong> It also provides a historical perspective. <\/strong>Further, it looks at their plight of \u2018Homosexuals and Lesbians,\u2019 particularly how the overwhelming majority of members of Caribbean societies view these activities.<\/p>

FORESEEABLE CONSEQUENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Still, others continue to advocate union in \u2018Same-Sex Marriages.\u2019 <\/strong>God has detested both.\u00a0 Though \u2018God\u2019 has other means and ways of communication, advocates seemed to have ignored the fate of those two Cities. In spite of man\u2019s denominational affiliation, religious and doctrinal teachings, scriptural understanding of \u2018Obedience; Marriage and Sex,\u2019<\/strong> man continues to pursue the flesh. In spite of \u2018Foreseeable Consequences,\u2019<\/strong> that were often seen as bringing upon himself pain, peril and death. Ignoring these and venturing into anatomical orifices for sexual pleasures, man continues to position \u2018God\u2019 to \u2018Deliver Vengeance\u2019<\/strong> without mercy.<\/p>

EARLY NOTICE<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Seeking to capture the attention of regional Legislators, and as many persons with such dispositions has given long notice of the group\u2019s intention to file five legal challenges with the Judiciary. These may have been contained in what was described as \u2018remnants of draconian laws<\/strong> of our colonial past.\u2019 Having been dared by \u2018Legal Affairs Minister,\u2019 Steadroy \u2018Cutie\u2019 Benjamin\u2019 <\/strong>to mount \u2018Constitutional Challenges,\u2019 \u2018ECADE Executive Director<\/strong> Kenita Placide\u2019 <\/strong>provided a measured response. Through a \u2018Press Release, she indicated the offending issues as; (i) \u2018Buggery; and (ii) Indecency.\u2019 <\/strong>She also listed several jurisdictions within the \u2018Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), where the challenges will be made. These include; (i) \u2018Antigua and Barbuda; (ii) Grenada; (iii) St. Kitts and News; and St. Lucia; and Barbados;\u2019 [Observer: November 5, 2019].<\/strong> As \u2018Buggery\u2019<\/strong> was not considered a right to be enshrined in the \u2018Constitution Order\u2019 [1981],<\/strong> there appears to be no reasonable prospect of any successful constitutional challenge. The \u2018Directorate of ECADE\u2019<\/strong> is yet to return.<\/p>\n

GOD\u2019S CREATION AND GRACE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apart from people that have not been psychologically convinced that they are part of \u2018God\u2019s Creation,\u2019 <\/strong>few may acknowledge the \u2018Scriptural Teachings\u2019<\/strong> that \u2018God\u2019<\/strong> has made man in \u2018His Image and Likeness\u2019 [NKJ: Genesis 1: 27].<\/strong> Undoubtedly, \u2018God\u2019<\/strong> knew what \u2018He\u2019<\/strong> was doing when he made \u2018Adam and Eve.\u2019<\/strong> He provided both with reproductive organs for specific purposes and a specific use. These organs were to be used only for reproduction. Somehow, they had been influenced to use their organs in a manner not pleasing to \u2018God,\u2019 and seemingly \u2018Spiritually fell from God\u2019s Grace.\u2019<\/strong> \u00a0Not guided by endowed reason and conscience,<\/strong> they received sanctions for their disobedience and desires that were clearly not in accord with \u2018His\u2019 spiritual instructions.<\/p>\n

TROUBLES AND STRUGGLES<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the case of \u2018LGBTQI\u2019 <\/strong>members acting outside the \u2018Realm of law and social norms, have exposed many to societal struggles. In some encounters with the rest of society. There<\/strong> have tragedies, as well as many have shared grief, while others endured excruciating pain and long suffering. Most were due to the offence of \u2018Buggery.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

a derivative British Law.\u2019<\/strong> While it may have brought participants \u2018Sexual Pleasures,\u2019<\/strong> research has revealed that it has also brought, and continues to bring to the \u2018Sexual Minorities\u2019<\/strong> continual \u2018Troubles and Struggles.\u2019 <\/strong>The legal interpretation states that \u2018Buggery\u2019 me<\/strong>ans; \u2018\u2026Sexual intercourse, as per anum by a male person with a male person or a male person with a female person\u2019 [Section 12 (2)]. <\/strong>The enactment provides no provision for \u2018consensual adult sexual copulation.\u2019<\/strong> The \u2018Act\u2019 specifies penalties as follows; (a) \u2018\u2026Life imprisonment if committed by an adult on a minor; (b) \u2026Imprisonment of fifteen years if committed by an adult on another adult;<\/strong> and (c)<\/strong> \u2026Imprisonment of 5 years if committed by a minor\u2019 [SOA: No: 13 of 1995: Section 12].<\/strong><\/p>\n

CARIBBEAN SOCIETIES<\/strong><\/p>\n

The very pejorative word \u2018Buggery,\u2019<\/strong> suggests an act so \u2018Perversely Unnatural,\u2019<\/strong> that most people in \u2018Caribbean Societies\u2019<\/strong> are not only outraged, but also find it \u2018abhorrent, detestable and abominable\u2019 <\/strong>when performed on a female victim. Though not necessarily exactly the same, it could be likened to the clich\u00e9; \u2018That which is to a man is \u2018Trash\u2019<\/strong> to another, it is \u2018Treasure.\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>There are those in societies around the world that finds it sexually pleasurable. Though \u2018Britain\u2019 <\/strong>had bestowed status of \u2018Statehood in Association with Britain\u2019 <\/strong>upon those it then colonized [1967], <\/strong>it made no attempt to \u2018Legalized Homosexuality\u2019 as it did within its borders [1967].<\/strong><\/p>\n

STATISTICAL DATA<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2019 <\/strong>After the attainment of political independence, there have been several visitations. Even without \u2018Statistical Data,\u2019<\/strong> the overwhelming majority of regional people appears transfixed on that which has been scripturally declared \u2018an Abomination unto God.\u2019<\/strong> Should the citizenry believe that there will soon be a meeting of minds of Legislators reaching consensus in in tabling a \u2018Bill\u2019<\/strong> to amend the \u2018Sexual offences Act,\u2019<\/strong> specifically to repeal the \u2018Buggery Section,\u2019 <\/strong>this may be a long time coming. Research revealed a description of such persons as those that \u2018Penetrates the anus of a person (male\/female) during sexual intercourse\u2019 [Oxford Dictionary].<\/strong> There have been no recorded historical attempts at foisting it upon the twin-island nation of \u2018Antigua and Barbuda.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

MERCENARIES ON MISSIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been revealed that some industrialized nations and foreign donor agencies have dispatched \u2018Mercenaries on Missions\u2019 <\/strong>to the region. They have been endeavoring to turn Caribbean people into \u2018Sinners of the Flesh.<\/strong>\u2019 These persons have reportedly visited two governmental Ministries. Firstly, the \u2018Ministry of Social Transformation: Justice and Legal Affairs; and Ministry of Health.\u2019 <\/strong>These \u2018Mercenaries\u2019<\/strong> were said not to have been successful. Regional people are yet to show attitudinal change toward encouragement or embracement of that which they have regarded as \u2018Abnormal Sex Acts.\u2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n

LEGISLATIVELY AND JUDICIALLY<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was obvious that when this offence was inserted into the \u2018Sexual Offences Act,\u2019<\/strong> the mischief aimed by Parliament, was to ensure that society does not provoke the \u2018Wrath of God.\u2019<\/strong> Moreover, looked at from \u2018Carnal Abuse,\u2019<\/strong> it may also have been intended to protect society\u2019s vulnerable and to discouraged the depraved. As progressive as some societies may seem, and as \u2018Legislatively and Judicially\u2019<\/strong> accommodating they may to these minority grouping \u2018LGBT; Queer and Intersex,\u2019<\/strong> none may occupy the mind or thoughts with \u2018Illusions,\u2019 <\/strong>that this nation intends to subject the week and vulnerable to \u2018Carnal Abuse\u2019<\/strong> for the \u2018sexual gratification\u2019 of those seemingly confused with their identity, gender and emotions.<\/p>\n

SUPREMACY OF GOD<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u2018Founding Constitution Principles\u2019<\/strong> may not for this or any group to abandon these principles, neither for reasons of expediency, nor to satisfy the \u2018Sexual pleasures and\/or gratification for a small minority. That which is held sacred to the nation and people is one that speaks to Godliness and rights so enshrined. It states; \u2018Whereas the people of Antigua and Barbuda proclaim that (i) \u2018\u2026We are a sovereign nation: (ii) \u2026Founded upon principles that; (a) Acknowledge the \u2018Supremacy of God; (b) \u2026Respect the \u2018Dignity and worth of the human person: and (c) \u2026We recognize the entitlement of all persons to the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual\u2019 <\/strong>[CO: No. 1106: 1981: Principle: \u2018A\u2019].<\/p>\n

PEOPLE\u2019S ACKNOWLEDMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

The people of \u2018Antigua and Barbuda\u2019<\/strong> further speak; \u2018…We shall show due regard to the position of the family in a society of free men and women; and (e) Free institutions.\u2019 <\/strong>Clearly, the society guided by the sexes and reproductive organs, the family is not going to be reduced to two \u2018Homosexuals\u2019<\/strong> as \u2018Husband and Wife,\u2019<\/strong> nor two \u2018Lesbians<\/strong> as \u2018Wife and Wife.\u2019<\/strong> Still, with the \u2018People\u2019s Acknowledgement\u2019<\/strong> that \u2018God\u2019 shall reign \u2018Supreme,\u2019<\/strong> framers of the \u2018Constitution Order,\u2019 <\/strong>knew that some people may not so acknowledge. They also knew that many people may neither wish to be associated with biblical teaching, preaching or worshiping,\u2019 be it. \u2018Anglicanism, Adventism, nor Catholicism.\u2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n

ROYAL HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n

An acknowledgment passed on to the people of \u2018Antigua and Barbuda\u2019<\/strong> that \u2018God is Supreme\u2019<\/strong> [CO: 1981: Principle: \u2018A\u2019], shall now be seen as morally uplifting to the society and nation.\u00a0 British colonizers and rulers seemingly held such belief. \u2018Royal History\u2019<\/strong> shows that \u2018King Henry VIII\u2019<\/strong> had \u2018Decreed\u2019 <\/strong>a \u2018Buggery Act\u2019 [1491-1547].<\/strong> The King, seemingly a strong believer in that which was commanded to mankind, that man may derive no better \u2018Sexual Pleasure,\u2019<\/strong> than engaging a woman by using the male reproductive organ as intended by \u2018God.\u2019<\/strong> From research, he appeared mindful of these \u2018Laws;\u2019 (i) \u2018\u2026Divine Law.<\/strong>\u2019 Such law assigns the penalty of death to any man found guilty of acts of homosexuality; (ii) \u2018\u2026Levitical Law.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

DECREED CIVIL LAW<\/strong><\/p>\n

This law adjudged those guilty of the \u2018Execrable Crime of Buggery,\u2019<\/strong> shall be put to death; and (iii) \u2026The Decreed Civil Law.<\/strong>\u2019 The King then, appeared \u2018Scripturally Obedient.\u2019<\/strong> Guided by Scripture, he knew that if he copulated outside of marriage, that would have been; (iv)<\/strong> \u2018Fornication.\u2019 <\/strong>\u00a0He also knew that if he was married, and by reasons of lust or temptation went after the flesh of another woman, he would have committed (v) \u2018Adultery.\u2019<\/strong> The Scripture has made it sufficiently that any \u2018…Man that lieth with another man,\u2019 <\/strong>believing that he was a woman and copulated with him, since this has seen by \u2018God\u2019<\/strong> as an abomination, then scriptural teaching dictates that every \u2018Bugger,\u2019<\/strong> shall be put to death\u2019 [KJV: Leviticus: 20: 13].<\/strong><\/p>\n

BRITISH MONARCHY<\/strong><\/p>\n

King James of the \u2018British Monarchy\u2019<\/strong> embraced and accepted the Scriptures [1603-1625]. <\/strong>Whether or not intended to be obedient to \u2018God,\u2019 <\/strong>both \u2018Kings- James and Henry\u2019 <\/strong>may also have been fearful of \u2018Death and Hell.\u2019<\/strong> Whether or not he was married or single, he knew that if he had engaged any man and indulged him in the \u2018lewd homosexual act of \u2018Buggery,\u2019<\/strong> with man or woman, that would have been \u2018an Abomination unto God.<\/strong>\u2019 The \u2018King\u2019<\/strong> knew that neither \u2018Sinners, nor Buggers\u2019 <\/strong>could enter into the \u2018Kingdom of Heaven.<\/strong>\u2019 Thus, he had not deviated from, nor relaxed the imposition of the \u2018Death Penalty\u2019 <\/strong>on subjects found guilty of homosexual acts.<\/p>\n

SEXUAL GRATIFICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unlike \u2018Homosexuals,\u2019<\/strong> \u2018Lesbians\u2019<\/strong> were said to have been using the designed \u2018male reproductive organ.\u2019<\/strong> While society frowns over their sexual behaviors, many nations have \u2018opened the door\u2019 <\/strong>for those so \u2018disposed; indoctrinated and then induced,\u2019<\/strong> to walk right through. It was the understanding, that those with influence were said to have often scouted in diverse places, seeking out and preying upon the weak, vulnerable and gullible. As for \u2018Homosexuals,\u2019<\/strong> not infrequently, occurrences showed that danger constantly lurks in places where \u2018Lesbians\u2019<\/strong> were known to have converged or resorted to express themselves in whatever way or form. Not infrequently, a homosexual falls victim to violence. He is helpless and hapless.<\/p>\n

SENTENCE-GUIDED<\/strong><\/p>\n

Few would deny the contentious and controversial nature of certain human behaviors. Today, even with some legalized exceptions, in some jurisdictions, such acts either remains seriously punishable, by practice. Within the \u2018British Commonwealth,\u2019 whether at \u2018Common Law\u2019<\/strong> or statutorily criminalized, such acts are now punishable either with \u2018Life Imprisonment\u2019<\/strong> or specific, yet ridiculously lenient \u2018Sentence-Guided\u2019<\/strong> terms of imprisonment. By the time the cock crows twice to signal the dawn of a new day, a convict is released from \u2018Legal Confinement.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

LIFE-SHATTERING GRIEFS<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the perspective of sensitivity, few behaviors have brought more woes upon practitioners of \u2018Same-Sex\u2019<\/strong> intercourse, than has ever been reported. In some societies, \u2018Homosexuals and Lesbians\u2019 <\/strong>have frequently been victimized or brutalized. While some members of society pejoratively refer to them as \u2018Homos\u2019 and \u2018Lesbos,\u2019 <\/strong>they in turn have accused members of society of \u2018Homophobia.\u2019 <\/strong>As the war goes on, hatred saturates the heart and evil is perpetrated against them. There have been \u2018Life-Shattering Griefs.\u2019 <\/strong>\u00a0Those that have been seen by these groups as being \u2018Homophobic,\u2019 <\/strong>have often been their attackers. Their only hope, has been the \u2018Judiciary.\u2019 <\/strong>Even so, many have tied their wounds, while grief-stricken families bury the dead.<\/p>\n

TRAGIC KILLINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n

While there have been innumerable instances of tragedies, two noteworthy cases recently reported, have been the \u2018Tragic killing\u2019<\/strong> of a female \u2018Ella Cordice 50\u2019,<\/strong> while reportedly sleeping at the home of a female \u2018Jasmine King 47\u2019<\/strong> in \u2018St. Vincent and the Grenadines.\u2019<\/strong> Their bodies were reportedly riddled with bullets. The latter seemed to have survived the gunshot injuries sustained in the vicious night-gun-attack [SVG: IWitness News: February 2, 2022].<\/strong> There was the hacking death of \u2018Baptiste Cleric, Bishop Ian Garfield Enoch 50.\u2019<\/strong> On a suspected \u2018Homosexual Rendezvous,\u2019<\/strong> but by a \u2018Same-Sex Encounter\u2019 <\/strong>claimed by alleged killer \u2018Anwar Jack 25,\u2019<\/strong> his mutilated body was found in his SUV, some several miles out of \u2018Kingstown,\u2019<\/strong> and away from the killer\u2019s \u2018Georgetown\u2019<\/strong> residence [IWitness News. SVG Com: August 18, 2018].<\/strong><\/p>\n

DANGEROUS PLACES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topped as among the most \u2018Dangerous Places\u2019<\/strong> where violence has been reportedly perpetrated with increased frequency upon \u2018Lesbians and Homosexuals,\u2019<\/strong> has been the island- nation of \u2018Jamaica.\u2019<\/strong> Research has revealed contents in a book titled; \u2018Hate for Life: Homophobia – Violence \u2013 Jamaica HIV\/AIDS\u2019<\/strong> [Jamaica Human Rights Watch (JHRW)].\u2019<\/strong> This group wrote of the intent of members of the \u2018Jamaican\u2019<\/strong> society; \u2018\u2026War declared on all gays and homosexuals.\u2019 <\/strong>Compounding such declaration, accusatorily writing on the attitude of the Police, the group states; \u2018\u2026The police harass and persecute people suspected of homosexual conduct.\u2019<\/strong> Manifestations of these may have been seen, as reported by the \u2018Jamaican Watch Group.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

MARKED FOR DEATH<\/strong><\/p>\n

Further writing to the plight of the \u2018Vulnerable Minorities,\u2019<\/strong> the \u2018Watch Group\u2019<\/strong> reported the brutal killing of then leading gay rights activist \u2018Brian Williamson 58.\u2019<\/strong> Seemingly living \u2018Openly and Dangerously, he appeared to have been \u2018Marked for Death.\u2019<\/strong> The \u2018Co-founder of Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, all Sexual and Gays,\u2019 <\/strong>his \u2018multiple stab wounds body was discovered at his home\u2019 [JHRW: June 9, 2004].<\/strong> More recently has been the \u2018Brutal killing\u2019<\/strong> of an 18-year-old male. He reportedly responded to a \u2018Same-Sex Date,\u2019<\/strong> Instead, he was reportedly abducted by three unidentified men who robbed him of his \u2018Cellular phone, Bank Card,<\/strong> before leaving him with a \u2018partially severed penis\u2019<\/strong> [ANR: October 17, 2021].<\/strong><\/p>\n

BOOM BYE-BYE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u2018JHRW\u2019<\/strong> also makes reference to the lyrical content of a Jamaican song \u2018Boom Bye-Bye.\u2019<\/strong> It had seemingly very carefully omitted the name of the artist. However, research identified the artist as the controversial reggae artist, \u2018Buju Banton.\u2019 <\/strong>He had incurred the wrath of nations across the globe. Though then popular among Jamaicans who may have regarded it as the \u2018Anti- Homosexual Anthem Song,\u2019 <\/strong>it was a song that was not embraced by nations that have \u2018Legalized acts of Homosexuality.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

LYRICAL CONTENT OF SONG<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was a song that, rightly or wrongly, was banned from their airwaves. It was also one that could not be performed in \u2018European or North American\u2019<\/strong> concerts. The lyrical contents appear most suggestive and disconcerting to persons struggling with; (a) \u2018Gender Identity;<\/strong> and (b) Sexual preference.\u2019 <\/strong>The lyrics partially reads; \u2018\u2026Peter not for Janet; \u2026Peter is for John; Suzette not for Paul; \u2026Suzette is for Ann; \u2026World in trouble: \u2026Here comes the DJ Buju Banton; \u2026Any time Buju Banton come; \u2026Gathy boy get up and run\u2019 [Jamaica Human Rights Watch].<\/strong><\/p>\n

SEXUAL MINORITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, the world has seen people grouping together, categorizing themselves as; (i) \u2018\u2026Lesbians: (ii) \u2026Gays: (iii) \u2026Bisexuals; (iv). Transgenders; (v) \u2026Queers; and Intersex (LGBTQI).<\/strong>\u2019 Collectively, they are called the \u2018Sexual Minorities.\u2019<\/strong> They are said to have been struggling either with \u2018Sexual feelings and preferences or with their genders.\u2019<\/strong> For the \u2018Transgenders,\u2019<\/strong> research has revealed that they probably have the hardest of struggles. They are said to have been struggling with their \u2018Inner Gender Identity\u2019<\/strong> that differs from physical characteristics at birth.\u00a0 For instance, it was said that a male may feel a deep sense that he is a female, or a female may also feel the same sense that she is a male. These were described as personal struggles.<\/strong> In a \u2019Christian-manifested and dominated society, their struggles are real.<\/p>\n
