Harold Lovell, Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), is congratulating the six Party Members who were elected to the Executive Committee on Sunday, July 3.<\/p>

During the first in-person meeting of the General Council since September 2020, elections were held to fill several posts that had become vacant.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Senator Damani Tabor<\/strong> was voted in as the Party\u2019s new Public Relations Officer; Sister Delia Charles<\/strong> as Welfare Officer; Brother Harry Josiah<\/strong> as Labour Relations Officer; and Brother Hudson Joseph, Jr<\/strong>. as Education Officer.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The new Members-at-Large are Brother Shelly Clarke<\/strong> and Brother Guishonne Powell.<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Three positions had become vacant by virtue of the post-holders having been ratified as Candidates; two owing to Members\u2019 leaves of absence; and the other due to the passing of Brother Michael Burton.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a very uplifting and encouraging exercise,\u201d Lovell said of Sunday\u2019s vote.\u00a0 \u201cThe atmosphere was very warm and supportive of all who were nominated and congratulatory to the winners.<\/p>

\u201cIt speaks of the Party\u2019s spirit of unity, its desire to put forward our best players, and its recognition of the commitment and competence of those elected,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike the rest of the Executive, I warmly congratulate the winners and welcome them into service; those who did not win, I thank them for accepting the nominations; and to the General Council membership, I express my admiration for their maturity and spirit of participation,\u201d the Political Leader said.<\/p>

The vote was conducted by Member-at-Large Brother Rudolph Davis and involved delegates\u2019 show of hands \u2013 a decision agreed upon via a Motion put to the 16 Branches present.<\/p>

Lovell also congratulated the Party\u2019s General Secretary, Senator Shawn Nicholas, and her team for pulling off \u201ca well-attended and highly successful meeting, with all the administrative matters professionally handled.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 150 delegates and observers attended Sunday\u2019s General Council Meeting.<\/p>\n
