The man who shot and paralyzed an elderly woman during the 2013 last lap carnival celebrations was sentenced to 33 years in prison this morning.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Shelton Hunte was found guilty of wounding Judith Wynter with intent to murder.<\/p>\n

The court heard that Hunte had been in a shootout with rival gang member Trevorn Francis when a stray bullet struck Wynter, an innocent bystander.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Francis was also found guilty of wounding Wynter with intent to murder and was sentenced to 24 years imprisonment for his role in the incident.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The maximum sentence for the offence is 35 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n
