The Ministry of Health\u2019s Training Programme for Assistant Nursing Personnel (ANP) comprising of assistants to the nurse to work in Hospitals \u2013 Ward Assistants, and Community Clinics \u2013 Community Health Aides and Clinic Aides is now underway. The program which will run for 6 months is an intense course of study consisting of theory, laboratory and clinical classes.<\/p>\n

The participants were required to be a High School Graduate or proficiency in English and basic Mathematics and went through an interview and pretest process in order to qualify.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The programme is directed by the Principal Nursing Officer and is assisted by coordinators for both the theoretic and clinical segments.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Facilitators of the learning experience are selected from a wide array of senior professional nurses with many years of experience in various nursing specialties to include qualified Nurse Educators who teach in the Registered Nurse Programme.<\/p>\n

The current cohort of students is comprised of thirty-one (31) highly enthusiastic individuals who express a deep desire for the caring aspect of Nursing.<\/p>

As an assistant to the Nurse, the ANP is a most valuable Member of the nursing care team in that their main role is to assist the Nurse in ensuring that the patient\/client\/resident gets the best possible health care.<\/p>\n

In addition to carrying out tasks delegated by the Nurse, they do timely reporting and documentation of any changes to the patient\u2019s status, allowing for prompt intervention by the Nurse in a way that optimizes patient outcomes.<\/p>

The curriculum is oriented towards acquiring some knowledge based on the role of ANP with high emphasis on practical skills in meeting the basic needs of the patience to include<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

*Oxygen,<\/p>\n

*Safety,<\/p>\n

* Comfort<\/p>\n

* Nutrition, etc.<\/p>\n

The course comprises of :<\/p>\n
