During the three-day visit, the contingent visited various properties on island and met the hospitality employees from Antigua & Barbuda, who have already started their six-month stint.\u00a0 While at the properties, the officials were able to see the employees in action and received rave reviews, from employers, about their performances. On 23 May, the group, attended a meet and greet with the employees and their employers, which was hosted by the Executive Director of the Jersey Hospitality Association Clair Boscq. Of the 43 persons who received job offers, 11 are graduates of the ABHTI.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Matthias, expressed her enthusiasm with the positive feedback received about the employees, some of whom are ABHTI graduates.\u00a0 \u201cI am very pleased to see our former students working so well in their new environments and I am elated about the high praises that have been received from employers about their work ethic and the standard of excellence that is displayed.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Ms. Nibbs echoed similar sentiments and shared how proud she was to see former students of the Institute displaying such high work standards and embodying the mission of the ABHTI.\u00a0 She further stated that they are representing the school, the country and themselves very well.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The second purpose of trip served for ABHTI\u2019s administration to meet with the administrative staff of the Highlands College. During the meeting, which took place on 24 May, discussions centred around the second phase of the MOU signed by both governments, March of this year.<\/p>\n

This phase will directly benefit and see collaborations between the Highlands College and the ABHTI as it relates to the exchange of skills and curriculum development. This exchange will aid in developing both institutes\u2019 professional training programmes and \u201cas a longer-term ambition, consider the possibility of student exchanges\u201d as stated in the MOU.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to building a partnership with the Highlands College that will be mutually beneficial for both institutes.\u00a0 With the exchange of knowledge and skills, and the provision of trainers, to the ABHTI, the Institute will be able to further develop its training programmes. This will not only benefit those who attend and work at the Institute, but will contribute to the country\u2019s tourism product on a whole,\u201d Matthias said.<\/p>\n

The Administration of the Highlands College received gift bags, from the Government of Antigua & Barbuda, which were presented by Ms. Nibbs.\u00a0 During the presentation, she thanked the principal and the administrative team of the Highland College for their hospitality and remarked that the prospective partnership between both entities, would be a venture that would have far reaching benefits for all involved.<\/p>

The visit ended with a tour of the historical sites of Jersey. The delegates returned to Antigua on 26 May.<\/p>
