The Chairman of the Vehicle Use Management Policy Advisory Committee, Mr. Clarence E. Pilgrim is urging Government agencies to make every effort to have all vehicles in the public sector fleet audited by\u00a0Wednesday 9th May, 2018<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This extension of one additional day for the audit of Government vehicles provides an opportunity to ensure that all vehicles and heavy-duty equipment are audited by the Ministry of Works.<\/p>\n

Mr. Pilgrim, who is also the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Works is of the opinion that an additional vehicle audit day will give specific groups such as law enforcement and emergency vehicles an opportunity to be audited before attention is shifted to the audit of vehicles on the sister island Barbuda.<\/p>

\u201cWe urge Government offices and Drivers of Government vehicles to comply with the conditions for the audit which includes ensuring that drivers are holders of a valid driver\u2019s license and that the vehicle registration card is presented to the auditors.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Government vehicle audit seeks to ensure that vehicles are safe, illuminate hazards, and improve public sector fleet management to determine the physical status and effectiveness of the assigned vehicles that are in the Government fleet, and to efficiently manage limited resources and maintain Government vehicles.<\/p>\n

The permanent secretary concluded that failure to comply with the regulations will result in vehicles being refused fuel and maintenance services.<\/p>
