Grammy award-winning musician Tim Kubart and his band, Tim and the Space Cadets, began a three-day tour of Antigua May 25.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The group has performed worldwide and is excited to visit Antigua as the last stop on its Caribbean tour.\u00a0\u00a0The U.S. Embassy is hosting the award-winning musical group as part of its arts envoy program in partnership with the Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Creative Industries and Innovation.<\/p>\n

“We had a great start yesterday, and with the help of the ministry, we were able to share our music with children at Villa and T.N. Kirnon Primary Schools,\u201d said Tim Kubart.\u00a0 “Antigua has really given us the best welcome, and we\u2019re excited for our performances ahead.\u201d<\/p>

In 2016, Tim Kubart won the Grammy for Best Children\u2019s Album. \u00a0In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Tim and the Space Cadets have toured Barbados, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and now Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Tap dancer, choreographer, and longtime \u201cSpace Cadet\u201d Alex MacDonald explained, \u201cIt\u2019s always wonderful to break musical bread with people of different cultures and have our art influenced by the energy of the country we\u2019re in and the people in the room.\u201d \u00a0MacDonald is an alumnus of the U.S. Fulbright exchange and an Adjunct Professor of Dance at Montclair State University.<\/p>\n

\u201cAntigua and Barbuda welcomes the sharing of cultures, art, and practices by creatives from different social-cultural backgrounds,\u201d said Director of Culture Khan Cordice. \u00a0\u201cThe introduction – for some – to tap dance here will open the minds of creatives to a different approach to dance and theatre. \u00a0We look forward to more collaborative projects in the best interest of the development of our people and the shared experiences with our friends in the wider creative arts society,\u201d he continued.<\/p>

Tim and the Space Cadets will perform live at the UWI Open Campus on Friday, May 27, at 6:00pm. \u00a0All are welcome to the free performance sponsored by the U.S. Embassy.<\/p>\n
