The Ministry of Creative Industries and Innovation (MCII] pleased an intimate group of sponsors, key stakeholders, and cast members\u2019 family and friends to \u201cAn Evening of Drama<\/strong>\u201d that was produced by the National Youth Theatre (NYTC) over the Labour Day weekend.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The signature event showcased the talent, skills, and versatility of creatives dramatists an initiative birthed and nurtured, and developed by the Cultural Unit within the Ministry.<\/p>\n

It was a night that saw the debut of 10(ten) new members of the theatre group and featured a presentation by the 5th<\/sup>-form Theatre Arts students of the Jennings Secondary School.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The young aspiring Dramatist treated the audience to five captivating and emotional short pieces. It was an advanced display of combining the theme to their own scripted narrative based on their assigned song.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Weekly practice sessions were held every Saturday starting from January 2022 at the Redcliffe Street Branch of the Cultural Unit.<\/p>\n

These rehearsals gave the solid foundation that cemented their discipline at the weekend\u2019s showcase that covered topics such as the Importance of Communication, Family Dynamics, Forgiveness, and Secrets. Popular music was also incorporated into the pieces.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

After Sunday evening\u2019s performances, the actors and actresses were given a standing ovation as the audience showed their appreciation for the superb job and professionalism during all the performances.<\/p>\n

They showed great craftmanship in keeping in their character\u2019s disposition while engaging the audience. It must be mentioned that the audience was actively participating and commenting on the unfolding storylines. The pieces:\u00a0“Enough is Enough”<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0“The Other Woman”<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0“Listen\u201d,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0“I Don’t Want to Know”<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(NYTC), and\u00a0\u201cDire Decision\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(Jennings Secondary School) explored issues of death, suicide, alcoholism, and the occult.<\/p>

A visibly moved Minister of the Creative Industries and Innovation, the Hon. Dr. Michael S. Browne was filled with much appreciation for the Theatrical Arts that he proudly announced the Cabinet\u2019s decision to establish a new home for the National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Symphony in the former Deluxe Cinema building.<\/p>

Minister Browne also promised the audience that many more similar events highlighting the Cultural Arts will be a continuous mandate for this new Ministry. He was very impressed with the work of the creatives and the NYTC. The Minister called for more\u00a0“On High Street and Off High Street Events\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0that will become a trademark of the Ministry of Creative Industries and Innovation. A special\u00a0Thank You and Commendation\u00a0<\/strong>must be given\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0<\/strong>Mr.\u00a0<\/strong>Owen Jackson – Deputy Director of Culture, Ms. Centilia Brown of the Jennings Secondary School, and the production team who made the weekend\u2019s event successful.<\/p>\n
