In a bid to improve the ease of doing business in Antigua and Barbuda, the Ministry of Legal Affairs, through The Antigua and Barbuda Intellectual Property and Commerce Office (ABIPCO) has partnered with several other entities to embark on a One-Stop Shop for Business Registration System (OSS-BRS) initiative.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

To this end, the Ministry of Legal Affairs, in conjunction with the Ministry of Information, Communications Technology and Digitalization (MICTD) is working assiduously with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Compete Caribbean (a partnership between the IDB, the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), and the Government of Canada) to finalize plans for the OSS-BRS.<\/p>\n

It is anticipated that the OSS-BRS will be the digital single window for business registration in Antigua and Barbuda. As such, this new system will allow for a single time registration which will include, social security, medical benefits and tax registration.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Through this new and upgraded electronic platform, businesses and entrepreneurs will be able to receive their business entry certificate electronically and make payments online.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Spearheaded by the Antigua and Barbuda Intellectual Property and Commerce Office (ABIPCO), this project is also being supported by key public bodies in the business registration process.<\/p>\n

These partners include the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC), the Antigua and Barbuda Social Security Board (ABSSB), the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) and the Statistics Division.<\/p>

With this One-Stop Shop for Business Registration initiative, ABIPCO is aiming to improve the country\u2019s ease of doing business performance and investment competitiveness by reducing the cost and processing time for business registration. Additionally, this new undertaking will provide a secure environment for the online registration system, which is in full alignment with the Government and MICTD\u2019s mandate of implementing the eGovernment agenda and transitioning to digital public services.<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom has expressed delight with its involvement in this initiative through its support to the Government and People of Antigua and Barbuda. It is hoped that through partnering with Compete Caribbean, the establishment of the One-Stop Shop for Business Registration System will unleash local entrepreneurialism and attract foreign investment that will help Antigua and Barbuda rebuild by making the process of registering a new business simpler, faster, and more cost effective.<\/p>
