The Earl and Countess of Wessex have been urged to use their \u201cdiplomatic influence\u201d to achieve \u201creparatory justice\u201d for the island of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

The country\u2019s prime minister told Edward and Sophie: \u201cYou will have noticed there are no protestations here,\u201d adding that they were not \u201cholding placards\u201d.<\/p>\n

It follows protests on the couple\u2019s visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines on Saturday, where banners were held aloft saying \u201ccompensation now\u201d and \u201cBritain your debt is outstanding\u201d.<\/p>

Gaston Browne said the decision not to protest was because they believed in having an \u201copen and very objective discussion\u201d.<\/p>

Browne also told the earl and countess it is the country\u2019s wish to \u201cone day become a republic\u201d.<\/p>\n

The PM\u2019s remarks came at a meeting between Edward and Sophie, Browne and his Cabinet during their visit to the island on Monday.<\/p>
