Antigua and Barbuda is continuing to receive favorable numbers this year as it relates to its cruise industry.<\/span><\/p>

The year 2022 began with a bang but March has been the best month yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on the news on March 24,\u00a0<\/span>Dona Regis-Prosper General Manager\u00a0of Antigua Cruise Port said: ”Antigua Cruise Port This year started off on an especially positive note with January recording 64 calls and 50,794 passengers while February had 59 calls with 44,710 passenger arrivals. The month of March is our best yet as we expect a total of 71 booked cruise calls with a projection of 56,779 passengers, and we expect so much more for 2023!”<\/span><\/p>

But the month ended on an even greater note; there were 73 cruise calls with 60,816 passengers in total by the end of March.<\/span><\/p>

Enchanted Princess of Carnival Cruises brought in the most visitors with 2,895 aboard that vessel.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unpredictable nature of the pandemic uprooted all hopes for tourism sector in Antigua and Barbuda to grow.<\/span><\/p>

When the country reopened its docks in July 2021, spirits were high because the cruise industry adds\u00a0<\/span>millions to local coffers each year in taxes and expenditure by those who disembark.<\/p>\n

Government officials and vendors alike saw more monies coming in and while they expect even more from the industry, it is safe to say that everyone is pleased to be out of the direct destructive path of Covid-19 and consequently be closer to normal life. (LOOP NEWS)<\/span><\/p>
