Tragedy was averted in Cassada Gardens on Sunday when a three-year-old boy was pulled from a cistern and resuscitated, thanks to quick, collaborative efforts by his family members, the Emergency Medical Services and staff at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The EMS received the call at 2:01pm and arrived on the scene five minutes later to find the toddler unresponsive while members of his family administered Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).<\/p>\n

The family said they had not seen the toddler for a period of time and he was spotted in the cistern during a subsequent search.<\/p>

Emergency Medical Technicians, led by Courtney Kellman continued CPR while rushing the boy to the hospital. They also employed advanced interventions, including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).<\/p>

<\/figure>\n

The team at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre completed the life-saving procedures and resuscitated the toddler; he has since been admitted for further treatment.<\/p>\n

EMS Director Sean Greenidge has praised his response team, led by advanced EMT Courtney Kellman and which included Dante Simon and Igbal Govia, two basic EMTs who recently joined the ranks after completing courses in the EMS Training Academy.<\/p>

He also commended the family of the toddler for their quick action to begin CPR, which proved crucial in saving his life.<\/p>\n

Greenidge is also urging members of the public to learn how to administer CPR, as Sunday\u2019s scenario proves how immensely valuable it is.<\/p>
