The Eastern Caribbean islands experienced moderate to severe sargassum influxes in the first quarter of 2022. <\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The level of sargassum arriving now is moderate to severe and is expected to continue in the coming weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n

There is 63% less sargassum visible out in the Atlantic than this time last year, well below 2018 levels, the worst year to date.<\/span><\/p>

Overall, the islands of the Eastern Caribbean can expect mild to moderate influxes over the next 3 months depending on location.<\/p>\n

Compared with last year (grey) the northern islands will likely get more influxes, whilst the southern islands can expect far less.<\/p>\n

Northern islands, are set to receive mild influxes from now until late April when levels are expected to increase to moderate levels.<\/p>\n

Middle islands will experience moderate to severe influxes over the 3-month period, with spikes expected at the end of March and early May.<\/p>\n

Southern islands are expected to receive mild to moderate influxes of sargassum with a peak expected in mid March, followed by mild levels until the end of May.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
