The Ministry of Education and Sports is pleased to name Mya Symister<\/strong> as Island Scholar, 2021.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Sysmister\u2019s name was forwarded to Director of Education, Clare Browne, who after reviewing her performance, granted permission for the announcement to be made.<\/p>\n

The former student of Antigua State College and Saint Joseph\u2019s Convent Secondary School in Castries, St. Lucia, attained distinctions in Applied Math, Pure Math, Computer Science, Physics, and a Grade two (2) in Communication Studies.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Island Scholar award is determined based on students\u2019 performances at CAPE in two units of a two-year programme.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Mya Symister will receive US $20,000 (EC $54,000) per annum through the Board of Education, towards higher education at a university of her choice.<\/p>\n

Director of Education, Clare Browne, spoke to the 2021 Island Scholar and he father, Attorney at Law, Leon \u2018Chaku\u2019 Symister and conveyed his ministry\u2019s best wishes on her scholastic achievement.<\/p>

\u201cIndeed, a remarkable achievement against the backdrop of a pandemic. We at MoE salute Ms. Symister for her outstanding performance. We commend her parents, and all her tutors at the Antigua State College, as well as her teachers at he earlier schools. May God bless her future,\u201d Director Browne said.<\/p>\n

Mya Symister said she is thrilled at being named the 2021 Island Scholar, having worked hard for this moment. She thanked her family for their unwavering support throughout the process.<\/p>
