It is a country of explorers, and curiosity is highly encouraged in every corner. The capital of Portugal is Lisbon, an old and beautiful city that has a lot to offer. Lisbon has numerous architectural sites that are considered UNESCO World Heritage, and we can say for sure that you won\u2019t get bored exploring the streets of the city.<\/p>\n

St. George’s Castle is one of the main tourist attractions in Lisbon, and it is an amazing complex of several defense towers and museums. It is an enormous fortification, and you can observe the surrounding lands and the capital itself through Camera Obscura periscope located in one of the towers. Another interesting place to see is the Lisbon Oceanarium, which is one of the most modern and diverse marine aquariums in Europe. It has a unique and bizarre collection of fish from stingrays and clownfish to different reef colonies. It is a breathtaking experience to walk through the expositions of the Oceanarium and see the beauty of marine nature. The Oceanarium has several different ecosystems brought to it from different parts of the world like the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.<\/p>

Santa Justa Lift<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moving further, you can pay a visit to Santa Justa Lift. You will definitely notice it towering over the districts of the city, as this neo-Gothic elevator built from black stone catches the eye of every explorer. It was inaugurated in 1901, and since then, has been one of the most popular attractions of Lisbon. The elevator will bring you to the height of 32 meters, from where you can observe the busy capital of Portugal. At the top, you can see the famous castle and River Tagus.<\/p>

Monument to the Discoveries<\/strong><\/p>

Portugal has been known as a land of adventurers, and the Monument to the Discoveries definitely captures its spirit. It takes a big part of the Bel\u00e9m waterfront and signifies the Age of Discovery of the 15th century. You can take the trip to the monument and jump on the elevator to the top of the structure to admire the views of the vast ocean and observe Lisbon from a different view. This monument was built in 1960 and is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator.<\/p>\n
