National Financial Literacy Month is being celebrated throughout April and SamuelFields Consulting Group (SFCG), a consortium of financial wellness experts will stage a series of events, activities and challenges that focus on the youth. Under the theme: Maximizing Opportunities NOW to Empower the Youth (MONEY),<\/strong> these educational initiatives will provide the youth with greater access to financial education and resources, to ensure their future resilience and well-being.<\/p>

On April 1, SFCG ventured to the Hon. Charlesworth T. Samuel School <\/strong>in John Hughes for a financial workshop with students in Grades 5 and 6. The presentation was conducted by SFCG\u2019s CEO Megan Samuel-Fields. This fun, interactive lesson\u00a0 was based on the board game \u201cThe Game of Life\u201d and was designed to teach students the fundamentals of financial literacy. It covered the basics of saving, how to create a budget and to distinguish between wants vs. needs. SFCG also launched the Youth FinLit Toolkit, a free digital resource that provides a range of innovative tools to help the youth and their families improve their financial literacy.<\/p>

 <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe believe in the importance of teaching children in our community money management skills. It is never too early to start the money conversation to show them that learning about money can be a fun exercise,\u201d said SFCG\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Megan Samuel- Fields. \u201cWe are committed to doing our part to help in developing the next generation of young professionals and leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

April 22nd will mark the official Teach Children to Save Day<\/strong> and SFCG will stage an eLearning Masterclass for the youth. It will focus on how to research career choices and will provide tips and tricks to encourage children to earn and save early and wisely.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

SFCG will also stage the Virtual Youth Opportunities, Lessons and Outcomes (YOLO) Summit<\/strong> on June 5th, 2022. This one day event will be geared towards self-discovery, learning, leadership building and networking, around the theme of financial literacy for the youth. An Innovative Incubator <\/em>and Ideas Lab <\/em>are among the fun and interactive activities that will inspire the youth to save, invest, select a career path, or pursue entrepreneurship opportunities.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough today\u2019s youth are technologically advanced, many remain ill equipped with the means to manage their money effectively, particularly during a pandemic. Studies show that when children are taught these skills at a young age, they have a better chance of growing up to become financially savvy adults,\u201d Samuel-Fields stated.<\/p>\n
