NEW YORK POST: First comes love, then comes marriage \u2014 then comes the\u00a0best man to steal the bride<\/a>\u00a0away from the groom at the wedding?<\/p>

Well, such was the case for Desiree White, 32, who ultimately divorced her husband to marry her lifelong friend and the best man at her wedding, Bryant, after he confessed his undying love for her while\u00a0toasting her nuptials<\/a>\u00a0to his then-best friend.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018I remember the first moment I saw Desiree, I loved her. I fell in love with her. I knew she had to be mine. I thought she was the most beautiful person I\u2019ve ever seen in my life,\u2019\u201d White, from Illinois, told Kennedy News and Media of Bryant\u2019s best man\u2019s speech during her 2010 matrimony.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018She\u2019s the best person I\u2019ve ever met. I\u2019ve never met anyone like her. Then I found out she already had a boyfriend and I thought I needed to find out a way to get her, but then I met [White\u2019s ex-husband] and we became friends,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The identity of White\u2019s former spouse is unknown.<\/p>\n

But she and her ex sat side by side, slack-jawed, as Bryant poured out his heart in front of them and their 200 wedding guests.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201c[Bryant] then just said, \u2018Love you both \u2014 congratulations.\u2019 It ended there,\u201d she added, noting that her ears \u201cturned red<\/a>\u201d with embarrassment after his admission. A wave of awkwardness then overcame the room, White remembered, saying, \u201cEveryone was kind of laughing \u2014 and then it got quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

And she was admittedly \u201cconfused\u201d by Bryant\u2019s\u00a0confession, most notably due to the staunchly platonic nature of their yearslong camaraderie.<\/p>

\u201cBryant and I met each other in class at high school,\u201d White told Kennedy News. \u201cI had a boyfriend at the time and, because of that, I really wasn\u2019t going to talk to other people.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

After showing him a picture of her then-beau, Bryant immediately recognized the kid as someone who shared the same lunch period as him. The three formed a tight buddies bond shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n

\u201cBryant and my ex-husband became best friends and, because they were guys, they did a lot together. They did everything together,\u201d White said, insisting that she did not harbor any romantic feelings for her now-husband during their formative years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI set Bryant up [on dates with other women] so many times,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve been on double dates with him and I always tell people I wouldn\u2019t have ever dated the person he was then,\u201d White assured, adding that, at the time, \u201cHe had a lot of growing up to do. I didn\u2019t really look at him in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

But White vividly remembers the look of affection that Bryant wore when he saw her adorned in bridal garb on the morning she was to tie the knot with his pal.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the wedding day, I walked into the living room, right when I was done getting ready with my wedding dress on and my hair done. Bryant came into my parents\u2019 house and froze and stared at me,\u201d she recounted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s up?\u2019 He said I looked beautiful. I\u2019d never had a moment of him looking at me like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

His adoring gaze aside, White\u00a0proceeded on to her wedding<\/a>\u00a0and got married. Bryant, in turn, reportedly got drunk and then publicly professed his love for her.<\/p>\n

But his unbridled unbosoming didn\u2019t stop at his best man\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n

Later that evening, White shared a dance with him while her new hubby cut a rug with her maid of honor. White recalled that while boogying with Bryant, he said, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you ever give me a chance? I would have always taken care of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked him what he meant and he said, \u2018Nothing. I love you, I love [White\u2019s ex-husband],\u2019 \u201d she recounted. \u201cThen he got quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following her big day of festivities, a confounded White remembered hoping that she\u2019d \u201cmisinterpreted\u201d Bryant\u2019s revelation of\u00a0amour<\/em>\u00a0and tried sweeping his avowal \u201cunder the carpet\u201d in her mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure it was because he was really drunk and lonely,\u201d she recalled thinking to herself at the time. \u201cI knew, up to this point, that he had girlfriends that weren\u2019t working out and he was kind of the third wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, less than a year later, when her marriage began to crumble because her then-husband had adopted what she called \u201ca totally different lifestyle,\u201d White\u2019s relationship with Bryant took a sudden romantic turn.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen [my ex and I] broke up and divorced, I went through a depression and was really secluded myself. I just didn\u2019t want to make an effort for anything,\u201d she said, noting that Bryant showered her with emotional support during the separation. \u201cHe\u2019d ask me to eat with him or hang out and watch a show. He was trying to be there for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, to her surprise: \u201cBryant and I just kissed one day when we were hanging out,\u201d said White.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was out of nowhere. When he kissed me, I didn\u2019t stop it, then I kissed him back,\u201d she added. \u201cI was shocked that it was a good kiss. It felt good and natural.\u201d<\/p>\n

Almost immediately, the friends became lovers. And, within a year, she became pregnant with their first son, Sawyer, who\u2019s now 9, and the couple got married in 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Bryant] said, \u2018I always wanted to marry you and this isn\u2019t because of the baby, but let\u2019s start this family right,\u2019 \u201d White gushed. \u201cWe were always friends but when we were together [romantically], it was like nothing was hard to do anymore knowing we had each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

And White, now a mother to her and Bryant\u2019s four boys, said she\u2019s living the dream.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love being parents. Twenty-year-old Desiree wouldn\u2019t think she could be a mom of four kids,\u201d she proclaimed. \u201cShe couldn\u2019t imagine this is what my life would be like now.\u201d<\/p>\n
