THE VOICE ST. LUCIA: Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member-states are being warned of possible economic backlashes from adopting US and UK-led sanctions against Russia for its continuing military intervention in Ukraine.<\/b><\/p>

Saint Lucia\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Dr Ernest Hilaire and regional Maritime Consultant Cuthbert Didier, both say Caribbean sanctions against targeted Russians can backfire, at least in the short-term.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s after Antigua & Barbuda indicated, on March 4, it\u2019ll apply the sanctions against Russian citizens named on the US-UK lists \u2014 and suspend processing all Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) applications from citizens of \u201cRussia, Belarus and Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>

Saint Lucia\u2019s Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet had earlier called for CARICOM to also adopting Washington and London\u2019s sanctions, including stopping Russian CIP applications.<\/p>
