The Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority have signed on to host the prestigious RORC Caribbean 600 for another four years.<\/p>

A signature race for true sailors and professional yachtsmen, the renewal means that the destination will continue to attract sailing elite and promising sailors, building Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s reputation as the \u2018Sailing Capital of the Caribbean\u2019.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Tourism by Minister of Tourism and Investment, The Honourable Charles Fernandez, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority Colin C. James and CEO of the Royal Ocean Race Club (RORC) Jeremy Wilton.<\/p>

The renewal of the agreement is in keeping with the Tourism Ministry\u2019s and the Tourism Authority\u2019s strategy, which calls for the development of the sailing and yachting sector as a means of economic development.<\/p>

Minister of Tourism, The Honourable Charles Fernandez said, \u201cWe continue to globally promote and position Antigua and Barbuda as a safe and picturesque location for the sailing community to enjoy local, regional and international regattas throughout the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also thrilled to have opportunities where we can expose our Antiguan and Barbudan talent and spotlight their performance, as was seen in this year\u2019s race.\u201d<\/p>

The 2022 RORC Caribbean 600 attracted 74 teams with 738 sailors from 32 different nations, setting a record for the most impressive fleet in the 14-year history of the race. The event culminated on February 25, with a prize giving ceremony attended by the tourism minister.<\/p>\n
