After more than two decades of service to the people of Antigua and Barbuda, the Director of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), Philmore Mullin, is heading into retirement.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sherrod James, who has worked with NODS for many years, will likely be appointed as the department\u2019s new boss. Mullin originally indicated that he was heading into retirement three years ago, but he has only now indicated that he will finally leave after rendering 22 years of service.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Speaking of his successor, James, Mullin said, \u201c\u201cSherrod has been well prepared. He has to find his own feet. I wouldn\u2019t want him to be like me. I want him to be his own person.\u201d He added while he is moving on to enjoy his later years more peacefully, his knowledge and expertise will always be available to NODS and the people of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201cI will not be serving in the capacity as director but if asked to do specific disaster management things, I will be more than happy so to do,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n

Mullin also noted while much has been achieved in the area of national disaster management over the last twenty years, there still remains a lot more work to do. \u201cWhen I joined this office, disaster management certainly wasn\u2019t what it was years ago. We have gone through several plans, we have developed a sound community disaster management programme. We can be proud of such a system.<\/p>
