The Christian Valley Rehabilitation Project has been underway since 2021 where they are reconstructing three (3) access roads with more focus on the road from Jolly Hill. The work being done includes reconstruction and improved drainage, which would allow passable access into the valley.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are utilizing some of the materials taken from the stream way to build the roads in this area and so we are trying to fix the drainage,\u201d said Project Consultant, Alvin Christian.<\/p>\n

He further explained that towards the end of this road they encountered some setbacks due to pending work that is needed to be done by the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA). \u201cAPUA has something to do in this area so we are at a standstill for the last three weeks,\u201d Christian added.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The project is moving very slowly and not according to the initial timeline with the restoring schedule still being done on a day-by-day it is uncertain of a completion date.\u00a0 The project has and continues to experience prolonged delays due to several deterrence such as limited human resources, lack of adequate machinery, availability of fuel and other issues.\u00a0 Additionally, it was observed that these setbacks have caused another problem for the areas that were already cleared and have become overgrown.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The length of road that has been completed thus far is quite a transformation compared to what it once was, and there is a visible difference which makes driving on it was much more feasible.\u00a0 The material that was excavated from the southeastern section of the valley was used to build up the road and this was done by laying the stones to make a solid foundation then the maul was placed and rammed on top making it much sturdier and smoother.<\/p>\n

Perseverance is the order of the day and despite these impediments, it is still hopefully that this project will be completed in sometime during the course of this current year.<\/p>
