The Traffic Department is better equipped and prepared to manage the traffic situation in the country, having received an additional nine new police motorcycles to its fleet.<\/p>

On Thursday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim officially handed over the much-needed vehicles to Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney, during a brief ceremony at Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Rodney took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Ministry of Works and the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board for coming to the aid of the police at a time when it is much needed. He said the traffic department is in a better position to respond to traffic collisions and other traffic-related matters in a timelier manner.<\/p>

Rodney also called upon the public to practice safe and courteous driving habits, as well as to obey the traffic laws in an effort to minimize collisions. He admonished his drivers to lead by example and demonstrate to the public the proper use of the roads.<\/p>

Head of the Traffic Department, Assistant Superintendent Rodney Ellis welcomed the timely donation and gave the assurance that the motorcycles will be well taken care of and effectively utilized to the benefit of managing traffic on the roads.<\/p>\n
