SOURCE TURKS & CAICOS SUN:<\/strong> F<\/span>rontier Airlines came to Turks and Caicos Islands with a bang three weeks ago, but it has pulled out with a sudden, mysterious sputter.<\/p>

The low-budget airline commenced flights from Orlando, Florida to Providenciales on December 19th, 2021, but abruptly stopped flights on January 10th, 2022.<\/p>\n

Director of Tourism Pamela Ewing confirmed that the airline is no longer servicing Turks and Caicos Islands.<\/p>

“Yes, Frontier Airlines has suspended services, as of January 10th, 2022,” she told The SUN. “We are awaiting their response as to why they have taken this action and are happy to update you when we receive same.”<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Frontier Airlines’ corporate communications department was contacted to ascertain why they stopped flying between Orlando and Providenciales, but up to the writing of this report there was no response.<\/p>\n

There was much jubilation, including optimistic speeches and a water cannon salute, when the Colorado-based airline made its inaugural flight to Providenciales in December with a delegation from Turks and Caicos Islands on board.<\/p>

David Woodard, Frontier\u2019s Regional Director of Operations, said he was looking forward to a “long and prosperous relationship” with Turks and Caicos Islands.<\/p>\n

The tourism director said she was pleased with airline’s arrival and expressed the hope that it would be the start of a “mutually beneficial partnership”.<\/p>

In her welcome remarks, Minister of Tourism Josephine Connolly said the arrival of Frontier Airlines makes travel more affordable whilst increasing the seat capacity to the Turks and Caicos Islands.<\/p>

Noting that Frontier Airlines joined a family of 12 international and regional carriers over 191 flights that touch down in the Turks and Caicos from various markets, she said: “While many may think of Orlando as simply a theme park destination, use of this hub becomes strategic; as this is perhaps one of the most connected hubs in the United States of America, allowing market expansion especially for interline agreements with European and Asian gateways. This venture now opens numerous possibilities for partnership and the strengthening of business relations. We can create getaways within vacations and be innovative. Such milestones are direct results of synergy.”<\/p>\n
