UPP ENERGIZES ITS CAMPAIGN WITH THE FIRST \u201cDRIVE IN RALLY\u201d<\/p>

A Safe Format to Engage Voters as the Cry for Relief Intensifies<\/p>\n

Residents and citizens in Antigua and Barbuda continue to face severe hardships with the day-
\nto-day challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the cry for relief intensifies throughout the
\nlength and breadth of Antigua and Barbuda, the United Progressive Party (UPP) continues to
\nfind safe ways to engage voters, to listen to their issues and to present economic policies and
\nsocial programs to get the country back on track.
\nOn Thursday January 13th, 2022 the UPP will launch its first \u201cDrive in Rally\u201d at the Old Road
\nPlaying Field. A strict \u201cno mingle policy\u201d will be enforced, out of concern for the health and
\nsafety of voters and candidates. This format will allow the Party to hit the campaign trail every<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

week and connect with the people to discuss the issues. It will also help to energize the Party\u2019s
\nbase and rally voters to seek the change in government that the country deserves.
\nIssues that are high on the Party\u2019s agenda are: the lack of jobs, a worsening water crisis, the
\nhigh cost of COVID-19 testing, crumbling infrastructure, a failing education system and late
\npayment of pensioners. The dynamic line-up of speakers will comprise candidates and former
\nParty leaders:
\n– Harold Lovell, Political Leader
\n– Hon. Jamale Pringle, Deputy Political Leader and Member of Parliament for All Saints East
\nand St. Luke
\n– Dr. Baldwin Spencer, Former Prime Minister
\n– Chester Hughes, Deputy General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union
\n(ABWU)
\n– Pearl Quinn-Williams, St. John\u2019s Rural North
\n– Anthony Smith Jr. , All Saints West
\n– Corthwright Marshall, St. Mary\u2019s South
\n– Sherfield Bowen, St. Phillip South
\n&quot;This election is about making the next chapter of Antigua and Barbuda one that we can all be
\nproud of. The UPP is ready to lead this country out of this pandemic, revive the economy and
\nget our people back to work. We want to bring the pride back to our communities and to see our
\npeople flourish and realize their full potential,\u201d said Hon Jamale Pringle, Leader of the
\nOpposition.
\n\u201cThis type of event is critically important because there is so much despair in many
\ncommunities. The work we need to do is too important to just leave to chance. The UPP is
\nprepared to do whatever it takes to keep Antigua and Barbuda safe and to ensure that we come
\nout of the pandemic stronger than before. The UPP has always put the people first and we are
\ncommitted to getting people back on track and back to work,\u201d said Harold Lovell, Political
\nLeader of the UPP.
\nFormer Prime Minister, Dr. Baldwin Spencer will also help to fire up the Party\u2019s base. \u201cWhile the
\nABLP is focused on enriching themselves, they continue to fail the people with empty promises.
\nWe will ensure that voters get the message that the UPP is ready to govern and we must
\nmotivate them to go to the polls to usher in change. The more our candidates make their
\npresence felt in all of the highways and byways across this country, voters of all ages and from
\nevery walk of life will recognize that they are important and that their vote counts,\u201d said Spencer.
\nThe \u201cDrive-in Rally\u201d will be a weekly initiative hosted in various constituencies as the UPP
\ncontinues to monitor and manage the effects of the pandemic. The meetings will begin at 7:00
\nPM and will be broadcast on Progressive 103.7 FM, Observer Radio, ZDK Radio and via the
\nMYUPP Facebook Page.<\/p>
