The much-anticipated tourist season has come again this year with a bang after several COVID-related hits.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

In our enthusiasm to create an unforgettable experience for our visitors, the Environmental Awareness Group is keen to remind everyone, local and tourist alike, to practice habits that keep local wildlife happy during these busy months and throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The turtles, sting rays and fish who call our waters their home and inspire awe in so many visiting faces should be \u2018Observed, Not Disturbed\u2019<\/strong> by us all during our underwater adventures.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This includes not being held, handled, or fed<\/strong> by humans or becoming entangled in poorly disposed garbage<\/strong>.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Many of these species, such as the endangered Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas<\/em>), have enough to contend with amidst threats of marine plastic, climate change and habitat loss.<\/p>\n

Adding another level of stress to an already threatened species does not serve in their best interests. Furthermore, it is important to note that under the Environmental Protection & Management Act (EPMA 2019), all species of sea turtles found in Antiguan & Barbudan waters are protected and should be treated as such.<\/p>

It is our responsibility to ensure that this and every tourist season is as safe and enjoyable for our wildlife as it is for our tourists. Let us be sure to keep everyone happy this season to maximize the fun for all!<\/p>\n
